The Edmonton Oilers have clinched a playoff berth for the fifth consecutive season after securing a 6-5 victory on Monday night. The Oilers clinched the playoff spot after Connor McDavid and Evander Kane each scored two goals, helping the team overcome a 3-1 deficit to secure the win. The Oilers, now 43-27-6, are currently third in the Pacific Division standings and have qualified for the playoffs in each season since 2016-17. "It feels great to clinch a playoff spot and especially to do it in front of our home fans," said McDavid, who has led the Oilers in scoring for the past three seasons. "This is a big step for our team and we're looking forward to the playoffs." The Oilers will open the playoffs on the road against the Calgary Flames on Wednesday, April 12.
